'Hermano Russell' was always some sort of mythical figure to us. That stern Puritan face and stout Santa Claus beard made him look like he was from a long ago and proud era. With that said, there was like this unwritten and unspoken word that we did not examine his works, and those who would even be so brave as to ask for one of his publications at the literature counter would be made to feel as if it were a stupid question. I always wondered why. I found the answer as I moved into non-WT media to find out more about this religion I belonged to. As a result, I found that JWs have a very weak religious foundation. Russell built his house upon predictions which turned out to be false, and everyone who came after him has only attempted to cover it up. No one has ever attempted to right the ship. Like a building long ago condemned, they keep on patching it up just enough to keep the doors open and the money flowing in.

JW apologist Emeth dismisses teachings of Russell as irrelevant, uninspired and even funny.. Maybe in the future jw's will say the same about todays Governing Body?
by The Quiet One inemeth said: "russell never claimed to be a inspired prophet or without any failures or mistakes.
he was just a human as much as i and you are.
he is just a person who started a process of digging and searching for bible truths.

Yep, it's still up.
Also found this:

Go to the subheading under 'Reorganisation', and you'll find this:
AAWA recently reorganized its corporate structure. By law, we must have identifiable corporate officers, and we do.
Looks like AAWA finally realised that they must have identifiable corporate officers (not aliases), which was what me and several other posters had earlier pointed out. See what a value JWN feedback can be? Come and drink life's water-free.

I can certainly understand his point of view and the reasons why he took the path that he did if it came down to a choice between his wife and family or the abyss of DFing. If this were the case then his wife really has someone who loves her dearly and would do anything for her. Whether the price of this love is worth going back to the JWs is only a question that SBF can answer, and he seems to have answered it. In a strange way, I honour that decision completely, and even though it would not be the path I would take, I cannot condemn him for making this choice. He is an adult man, free to make his own decisions and face the consequences of whatever comes next for him and his family. To condemn him for this would make us just as bad as the JWs with their 'us or them' mantra. All we can do is welcome him back if he does come back without being judgmental or launching a bunch of "I told you so" lines. On a personal note, I just hope he finds whatever he is seeking and that it brings him peace in his life.

He did say that he still goes to Assemblies, Memorials and some meetings, only that he didn't go door to door.

Cedars - My point was similar to the one slimboyfat made. Why are you bringing us into all this now? I didn't comment on any of your recent meltdown threads. We had words in the past and I was critical of you and AAWA, but then, so were many others. You really exhibit the signs of having bi-polar disorder. You've admitted in the past that you suffered from depression, so this might be something you should look into. As for me, I have moved on. I didn't deny that I made any disparaging remarks about you, I was only wondering why I was being mentioned now since your quarrel is clearly with Simon. This is a disturbing pattern with you where you claim others are trying to attack you when in reality, all sbf and I said was why are you mentioning us now? Do you really wish to rehash this out now? Why now, since you are so done with JWN and are happy being away from the 'peanut gallery'? Something is amiss in your mental and emotional makeup and it's being painfully dragged out here for everyone to see. What's going on?

This stinks. The rebels have been begging for someone to intervene from the beginning because they know they have virtually no chance of chasing the regime completely from the country. Similar to what they had in Libya. Who is good and who is bad? Try neither. Assad is backed by the Shiites and Hezbollah, and also from his Alawite base. The opposition is made up of Sunnis, some affiliated with al Qaeda, others not. This is like if Nazi Germany had a civil war, with one faction led by Hitler and the other one by Himmler. Do you intervene on behalf of Himmler and put him in power because he's not Hitler and doesn't have quite the record of tyranny? Osama shouldn't have bothered himself with running planes into buildings. All he needed to do was inspire revolts against all the Arab governments, and then wait for Western intervention to topple regimes for him.

The VMAs have become a launchpad for stunts. If you have gotten past the Britney-Madonna kiss from a few years back, this shouldn't shock you. If you are bothered by stuff like this, then don't watch the VMAs. As for Miley Cyrus, she obviously wants everyone to know that she is no longer the teen you once knew. Message received.
